Group Counseling

Coming together to grow.

Group Therapy

Good ideas can come from anyone. One of the primary benefits of group counseling is that you are not alone in the journey of healing. Group therapy provides the opportunity for people experiencing the same or similar issues to come together to explore the problem in a safe environment. The group is facilitated by Dr. John Lloyd who will provide a curriculum focusing on the particular issues surrounding the problem the group members are facing.

There are many reasons why people find group counseling helpful. For one, it provides a supportive environment where people can share their experiences and feel understood. Counseling also offers an opportunity to learn new coping skills and perspectives. In addition, group counseling can be a great way to meet new people and make social connections. Studies have shown that social support is essential for mental health, so group counseling can be an important part of recovery. Whatever the reason, group counseling can be a valuable experience for many people.

The Group process

Prior to the first group session, you will be asked to fill out a short form, providing a brief background into your history while also being able to discern what you would like to work on while in group. Based off your selection you will be assigned a group that will be focusing on these particular issues. Group times and days will be provided. Groups will be created on an as needed basis and will vary in availability due to overall interest. Groups will not only provide the opportunity for sharing, but will also include psychoeducational elements. Providing evidence related to the issues, while providing the opportunity to share with others, can create an environment that promotes health wellness for several people.
